3D Design and Modeling

Through the use of advanced 3D modeling, we can create 1:1 models and test for tolerances and dimensions prior to fabrication and install where issues and mistakes are costly. Advanced stress analysis can be used to test parts for load requirements.

  • Program/Software:
I use AutoDesk Inventor for all my modeling. (this program can export 3D models in various file formats for viewing within other programs.)

  • What can be modeled?
Most of the work i do for modeling is industrial work for structural steels or sheet metal break shapes. I can also do custom work, in the past i have done work for car parts, fences, privacy screens, art, ect. I am capable of doing a lot of different work you just need to ask and i can let you know if it is within the capabilities of the program or my skill. (I can also created 3D models for 3D printing and resin casting)

  • What is the benefit of a 3D model?
I create 3D models using AutoDesk Inventor. These models can generate flat patterns (DXF Files) which the customer can use to cut their part, however the drawing packages are PDF and can be used in any program, the DXF file is a universal file that can be opened in any program that is able to read a DXF.

  • Service rates:
I charge hourly for 3D modeling with a base hourly rate of 50$/hr with a minimum charge of 1 hour. I will try to look at a project and quote my hours according to the scope but this is always subject to change depending on the difficulty and size of the project. For the most part i try to quote the absolute least amount of hours for a project. (** models for 3D printing are priced per project and not by hour depending on the complexity of the model)
